The company

Fast, flexible finance empowers small businesses to manage their cash flow better and seize opportunities - making their business and the economy stronger as a whole. At iwoca, we do just that. We help businesses get the funds they need, when they need it, often within minutes. We’ve already made several billion in funding available to over 100,000 businesses since we launched in 2012, and positioned ourselves as a leading Fintech in Europe.

Our mission is to finance one million businesses. We’ll get there by continuing to make our finance ever more relevant and accessible to more businesses by combining cutting-edge technology, data science and a 5-star customer service.

The mission

As we expand our presence and grow our operations across Europe, we are setting up teams focused on specific countries we operate in. You will be joining a newly created team focused on adapting and improving internal tools for our colleagues serving customers in Germany.

The team

Our internal Customer Relationship Management (CRM) build team is a team of back-end and front-end engineers committed to creating and enhancing the tools that empower our operational teams to deliver exceptional service. You’ll join a newly formed subteam focusing on helping us better serve our customers in Germany. Our work environment thrives on creativity, innovation, data, and collaboration, making every challenge an opportunity for growth.

The role

Direct impactful projects from the ground up; design, develop, and implement solutions that enhance our operational efficiency, directly influencing iwoca's growth trajectory.

Innovative technology and infrastructure optimisation: Use cutting-edge technology to personalise and optimise customer interaction channels, from email journeys to call response mechanisms. Play a pivotal role in refining our existing systems, ensuring they are robust to support future technological advancements and innovations.

Enable better data-driven decision-making: The better we can predict risk, the more we can help businesses - especially those which no bank would support. We want to test and integrate more data sources, and limit the impact of human cognitive biases, enabling more informed, and effective outcomes.

Make our customer service even better: Customers love that we are fast, communicate well and have simple processes. Our proprietary task management system helps us decide where we can add most value at any given moment. And, we want to improve and expand it.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Proficiency in Python, with a strong background in back-end engineering.

  • Experience with Django, PostgreSQL, and designing, building, and managing relational databases.

  • A keen interest in both maintaining and optimising current systems, and in engaging in full-stack projects as required.

Bonus:

  • Front-end development experience, particularly with React + Typescript, to contribute effectively to projects beyond the back-end scope.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including containerisation and CI/CD processes, to streamline development and deployment workflows.

  • A strong numerate academic background, i.e. maths, physics, computer science, engineering, or similar.

The salary

We expect to pay from £60,000 - £80,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.
