About the role

We're building an engaging play poker game mode and looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join our core team. As an early team member, you'll have a significant influence on our product's direction and technical decisions. You’ll be responsible for designing and building robust backend systems and ensuring scalable performance across our application. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and driven to push forward high-performance solutions for our platform. A strong background in Python development, Django, and scalable web applications is essential, and a passion or knowledge of poker is a big plus. If you are passionate about developing efficient, well-tested backend systems, this role is for you.

In this role you will:

• Design and implement a poker game engine

• Develop real-time communication between frontend and backend to ensure great user experience

• Participate in regular code reviews, providing and incorporating constructive feedback

• Write and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests

What you bring to GTO Wizard:

• 5+ years of professional Python development experience

• Strong expertise in Django and building scalable web applications

• Experience with RESTful APIs and real-time communication protocols

• Proven track record of designing and implementing complex backend systems

• Solid understanding of database design and optimization

• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code

• Experience with gaming backends or real-time applications

• Previous work on poker-related projects or gaming platforms

• Knowledge of poker mechanics and game rules

• Familiarity with WebSocket implementations

• Experience with high-performance computing or concurrent systems
