As an Associate Financial Engineer on the Financial Technology Team, you’ll be tasked with special projects for the Investment Management function at Edelman Financial Engines. Such projects have included prototypes of new service offerings, automated systems for algorithm testing, deep-dive analytics and machine learning, and dashboards/tools for portfolio management oversight.

The team specializes in using Python to integrate open-source technologies into back-end applications that interact with production systems through APIs. Fluency with relational databases is critical. Creating Excel-based tools with modern database features may be needed to assist the Portfolio Management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, administer and scale prototype “pilot” products and programs.

  • Design and develop applications and system architectures to support transactions and portfolio analytics, and M&A activities.

  • Build and maintain software tools to research and test portfolio optimization/forecasting strategies.

  • Build\maintain ELT data pipelines and operational dashboards.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of testing procedures and software tools.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering (1+ years using Python).

  • Experience building/delivering customer facing/ internal web applications using Python-based MVC frameworks (Django, Flask). Experience with modern JS Frameworks such as Vue/React/Angular a plus.

  • Experience with Pandas ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib) a plus.

  • Experience with ELT data pipelines and sql is a plus.

  • Technical academic background in computer science, economics, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent

Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $130,000 - $160,000. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Additionally, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions.
