As a Python Developer II on the Data and Machine Learning Team at Tortuga, you’ll be a key contributor on the team responsible for developing intelligent robotic harvesting systems and the analytics tools we maintain to monitor our picking fleet. You will leverage your passion for developing high quality software that empowers other teams at Tortuga to quickly prototype, develop, and deploy new technologies to farms around the world.

What you’ll do
Harden and scale our existing data warehouses, pipelines, and platforms that enable our technical and operations teams to understand the performance of our robots across our product offerings.
Develop and manage tools with front-end and back-end support to make insights accessible.
Help drive components of our advanced MLOps systems that enable us to run many models across different types of farming environments.
Oversee the AWS cloud data pipeline that connects our international robotic fleets to the rest of our organization.
Contribute towards scaling our data availability by leveraging front-end technologies in a secure manner for our internal and external customers.
Up to 10% travel, with potential for international travel
What we’re looking for
Required: 2-4 years experience in a similar programming role, with solid experience as Python Developer
Required: B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
Required: Experience with cloud architecture, specifically AWS
Required: Familiarity with professional software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, version control management, and testing
Experience with Python frameworks (e.g. Django, Flask, PyTorch)
Understanding of databases and SQL
Knowledge of JavaScript and the AngularJS framework, and/or React, is a plus
A willingness to broaden one’s skill set in the pursuit of leveraging current technologies to complex agricultural problems
Strong communication skills
Front end web knowledge a plus
Startup experience a major plus

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of our salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Tortuga’s total compensation package for employees.
Denver area base salary range: $90,000 - $130,000 per year.
This position is based in Denver, with the ability to work from home 1-2 days a week, based on business needs (100% remote is not available).
