Staff Software Engineer

We are seeking exceptional Staff Engineers (Front-End, Back-End, and Full-Stack) to join our portfolio companies as early team members. You’ll work directly with visionary founders and SignalFire’s Talent team to build transformative products. This is a blanket application and a chance to access opportunities across a wide range of VC-backed startups—our team and startup founders will review your application and reach out if there’s a match.

Please Note: These are full-time opportunities directly with portfolio startups themselves, not through SignalFire.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack applications, from intuitive front-end interfaces to scalable back-end systems.

  • Develop APIs, microservices, and cloud-based architectures to power innovative products.

  • Collaborate closely with founders to define technical strategy and align it with business goals.

  • Contribute to the technical roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code across the stack.

  • Help shape the culture of the engineering team, establishing best practices for software development.

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer, with a proven track record of shipping high-quality products.

  • Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js) and back-end frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Django, Flask, or Ruby on Rails).

  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools.

  • Proficiency in common programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, Ruby, Go, or TypeScript.

  • Passion for solving complex technical challenges and building products that scale.

  • Experience in early-stage environments or lean teams is a plus.

Compensation Range: $170K - $260K
