Ensure engineering processes enable fast iteration while maintaining quality and reliability
While each startup has its own hiring criteria, many VP of Engineering roles in our network look for:
12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles
Proven track record of scaling engineering teams from startup to growth stage
Experience leading distributed teams and cross-functional collaboration
Deep expertise in technical architecture, software development methodologies, and cloud infrastructure
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, product development cycles, and engineering execution frameworks
Ability to align engineering initiatives with business objectives and revenue growth
Experience working with VC-backed startups or high-growth technology companies
Languages & Frameworks: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, React, Node.js, Django, Flask, FastAPI, Spring Boot
